About Me

I'm an explorer. The beauty and wonder of what's over the next hill or around the next bend is fuel for whatever comes after.  

Hi, I'm Derrick.

As you may have already suspected, I have ADHD.

 

I was diagnosed as an adult in 2016 and since then I've dedicated much of my focus to learning everything I can about how my unique brain wiring works and how to help others with theirs.​​​​​

Here are some other quick facts about me:  1. While I was diagnosed as an adult, I've lived with ADHD my entire life. 2. I'm working through the ADD Coach Academy (ADDCA) program and seeking credentials with the ICF (International Coaching Federation) and the PAAC (Professional Association for ADHD Coaches). 3. I have a diverse work history, like many of us with ADHD, and have flexed my entrepreneurial muscles, held high level corporate positions, and management roles; but I was also a tester on Dragon Age 3 and made that sweet Ketchup chip spice. 4. I have a bachelors degree in Journalism and Communication Studies. I was lucky enough to work with a number of local newspapers before venturing into the world of technical writing/editing and eLearning development.  5. I love taking photos and going on long secondary highway road trips.  6. Video games (PC) or running my friends through a game of D&D, or other roleplaying game, are two of my many hobbies.  7. I'm a hiker and birder, it's cooler than it sounds 😎 8. Lisa my partner, Pooka our pup, and Mustard our mini-panther fill my day with mischief, support, and love. ​ Those were the quick facts, but I'm an open book when it comes to the many hobbies, struggles, and adventures I've had thanks to my beautiful brain.

How I Coach

From the first session to the last, coaching is a partnership.

Discovery Session

A free 15-30 minute session where we meet digitally, or in person, and have a conversation.

 

​I'll tell you a little more about me and learn a little about who you are, the struggles you're facing, and the ones you'd like to overcome. 

​

At the end we'll both take some time to decide whether we're the right fit.

Welcome Package and Intake

If we're the right fit, I'll email you the welcome package. The package includes a letter, contract, and some early exercises to further understand your goals and struggles.

​

This step may also include a second free session to answer any questions you may have.

First Full Session and Beyond

Know what you're looking for? Great, we can dive right in. Unsure about what you need? No problem, we'll figure it out together. 

​

Everyone's first session is a little different. We'll look forward together and you'll discover the next steps that best fit your circumstances. 

​

This process continues as we get curious, ask questions and work through potential solutions as partners.
